A Letter From our Team Captain:
I am writing this to inform all donors and sponsors of recent news and developments with the American Ocean Rowing Team: Team Rowing for the Environment
Due to the time frame and large sums of money needed to necessitate such a feat as large as crossing the Atlantic we were unable to meet our monetary deadlines for this years Woodvale-Challenge Atlantic crossing.
We appreciate everyone's support thus far and look forward to working with you on this and future projects. This being said our plans for crossing the Atlantic have not been halted. We are simply moving the project forward and looking into competing in the 2011 Woodvale-Challenge Atlantic Crossing. This extended time frame will benefit your company and our future sponsors and will allow for the team to prepare in every aspect and give us an opportunity to raise all necessary funds. This will allow us to provide sponsors like yourself an ample amount of exposure for your generous financial and in-kind support for our team.
Although at this time we were unable to be the first team of six women to cross the Atlantic, our time and efforts have not been a bust. We have been in negotiations with a co-ed team of 12 from the UK and are proud to announce one and possibly more of our ladies is now part of this diverse group from the UK. With this team Anne will attempt to beat the current rowing record of 33 days as the first to cross in 30 days or less.
We are a persistent and determined bunch here at the American Ocean Rowing Team and refuse to let any obstacles get in our way of achieving our goals, which has lead us to start the Women's Athletic Dream Foundation. A Non-Profit Organization whose mission is to provide hope and promise to athletes world-wide who simply do not have the monetary means to make their dreams a reality. It will be there to help support extraordinary athlete's pursue their life changing passions.
I personally want to thank you for supporting our group of girls in our attempt to make history and look forward to working with you on making this project become a reality over the next two years.
Best Regards,
Anne Miltenberger
